  This high-level national event underlined the commitment of the political and policy leaders in the mid-Atlantic region to improving the environment for science and technology in order to enhance the climate for innovation in the United States, and to formulate expedient solutions. It was designed to focus on practical outcomes and to include the region’s leading stakeholders and decision makers.
  
  
• Accelerating Innovation 2006
  
  Building on the success of Accelerating Innovation 2005, the Foundation's second annual conference was held at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. on September 26, 2006. The critical conference centered on the role of technological innovation in economic development in the mid-Atlantic, nationwide, and globally.
